The PLC Project

Welcome to the Photo Learning Curve, aka The PLC Project.  Every Wednesday at my blog Rock The Mini, I am striving to become a better photographer.   I'm hoping what this sight will achieve is a place to look back and see improvements.  Along the way, I'll post other photos I've come across or share tips that I learn.  Below is my original post.....

The Camera's Destiny is in My Hands

For years, I have thought I was a pretty good photographer picture taker.  I'd whip out my handy dandy digital camera, have everyone strike a pose and voila' photo magic.  I just KNEW that once I'd saved up enough mula for the mac-daddy camera I would instantly become a professional photographer and people would be beating down my door to have their picture taken by the Minivan Mama.  Go ahead and chuckle, I'm just one of those ridiculous people who also believe she has won the lottery each and every time I buy a ticket.

Well, the day came and my father in law actually gave me his camera to have.  Drooling at the mouth, I couldn't wait to get my grubby hands on it.  Forcing my kids to pose, I started snapping the pictures and what do you know...they look pretty much just like the pics from my little handy dandy digital camera.  APPARENTLY, there is a little more to taking beautiful pictures.  Ya know, like lighting, shutter speed, etc., etc.  NOW I'm totally intimidated by the whole thing.  So.... I have a plan to save the destiny of my new camera.  I know, me and my plans....but I must make sure the camera fulfills its destiny.  Plus, if I am to live by the Rock the Mini mission statement then I HAVE to follow my dreams, goals, bucket list, or whatever you want to call it.

Here is the plan.  Once a week, I'm going to learn something new about my camera.  Considering I know basically nothing, I'll have a lot to learn and post about.  Along with it, I'm going to post my favorite picture from that week.  One that I'm proud of.  So now it is officially in writing.  I'm a bit nervous since I'm still struggling to figure out this whole blogging world...but hold me to it!  Feel free to email, comment, suggest anything to help me on this quest! 

Here is my first favorite picture of the week!  The Monkey makes it pretty easy to take a decent pic.  I haven't learned anything yet though...that will start next week!
